Job Summary

Due to successfully be awarded a new contract with Cadent Gas Limited, WM Walsh Surfacing are recruiting for the role of Project Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering reinstatement works following Gas connections, leakage repairs & mains replacement. The role ensures that all surfaces are restored to required standards, within budget, on schedule, and in compliance with relevant regulations and safety requirements and in line with the quality standards that WM Walsh Surfacing require.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage reinstatement agents and work with the Contract Director to deliver the contract to the expectations of the client.

  • Coordinate with utility providers, local authorities and our internal reinstatement resource ranging from single man support drivers to multi operative hotbox teams and grabs.

  • Ensure all reinstatement works comply with NRSWA (New Roads and Street Works Act) and local authority specifications

  • Monitoring performance of Teams and resource management for deployment.

  • Oversee site operations, ensuring quality standards for permanent and interim reinstatements

  • Conduct site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards

  • Identify and mitigate project risks, resolving issues efficiently

  • Working collaboratively with our client team, suppliers, ensuring performance and contractual compliance

  • Maintain accurate project documentation, reports, and records

  • Liaise with stakeholders and provide regular progress updates

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of reinstatement standards (e.g., SROH – Specification for the reinstatement of Openings in Highways)

  • Excellent project management and organisational skills

  • Strong leadership and team coordination abilities

  • Effective communication and stakeholder management

  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills

  • Commercial awareness

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience in project management within utilities or civil engineering

  • Good understanding of street works and reinstatement regulations (NRSWA accreditation preferred)

  • Experience managing reinstatement teams and subcontractors

  • Relevant qualifications (SSSTS/SMSTS)

  • Full UK driving licence

  • Training and further qualifications can be provided

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all activities are conducted in line with company SHEQ policies

  • Promote a strong safety culture across all sites

  • Ensure risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) are in place and followed

  • Monitor compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
